Disk Clean AI is a Mac app that scans your disk locally. This page explains the small amount of data that leaves your Mac, why, and what never does. It applies to the app, to Disk Clean AI Pro purchases and to this website. The app and site are operated by Redesignr AI.

What stays on your Mac

  • Your files. Scanning, the disk visualisations, and the large-file, duplicate, similar-photo, app and AI-tool cleanup features all run on your Mac. File contents are never read for analysis and never uploaded, and neither is your scan.
  • Your OpenRouter API key. Stored in the macOS Keychain on your Mac. It is sent only to OpenRouter, directly from the app, when you use the AI Advisor.
  • Deletions. Items you approve are moved to the macOS Trash by the app. Nothing is removed without your explicit approval.

What the app sends to us

The app talks to one server of ours, api.mactodoapp.com, the license and update server shared by our Mac apps:

  • Update checks. About once a day the app asks for the newest version of Disk Clean AI. The request carries no information about you or your files. You can turn automatic checks off in Settings.
  • License checks (Pro only). When you activate Disk Clean AI Pro, and about once a day after that, the app sends your license key, a random identifier created for this installation (not a hardware or account ID), your Mac’s name, and the app and macOS versions. We use this to confirm the license is valid and to enforce the limit of three Macs per license. Removing the license in Settings › License deletes this Mac’s record.
  • Support messages (only when you send one). Help › Contact Support sends the topic, email address, subject and message you typed. Unless you untick “Include app and Mac details”, it adds the app and macOS versions, your Mac’s model (such as Mac15,3), your language setting, whether you have Pro, and your license ID (never the key). We keep the message so we can answer it, and reply by email through Gmail.

There are no accounts, no analytics and no crash reporting in the app.

Buying Disk Clean AI Pro

Payments are handled by Dodo Payments, which acts as the merchant of record: it collects your payment details, billing address and tax information under its own privacy policy, and we never see your card number. Dodo shares your name, email address, the amount paid and a payment ID with us. We keep those with your license so we can email you your license key, resend it if you lose it, and handle refunds and support. License emails are sent from our server through Google’s Gmail service.

The AI Advisor (optional)

If you add an OpenRouter key and run the AI Advisor, the app sends scan metadata — file paths, names, sizes, types and dates for the largest and most relevant items — directly from your Mac to OpenRouter and the model you chose. It never sends file contents, and it never goes through our servers. Metadata about your files can still be personal (a file name can be), so use a model provider you trust; OpenRouter’s and the model provider’s policies apply to that request.

This website

The site sets no cookies of its own and shows no ads. It loads a small analytics script (Buyflow) that records page views and clicks on the download and purchase buttons so we can see which pages help people. When you click Buy or ask for your license key to be resent, the page sends the request (and the email address you typed, for a resend) to api.mactodoapp.com. Our hosting provider keeps standard server logs (IP address, user agent, requested page) for a short time for security and capacity purposes.

How long we keep data

License and purchase records are kept for as long as the license exists and as long as tax and accounting law requires. Records of which Macs use a license are deleted when you remove the license from a Mac, or when we reset a license’s Macs at your request.

Your rights

To see, correct or delete the data we hold about your purchase or license, or to ask anything about this policy, email hello@diskcleanai.com. We’ll respond within a few days. If you are in the EU/EEA or UK you also have the right to lodge a complaint with your data protection authority.

Changes

If this policy changes materially we’ll update the date above and mention it in the app’s release notes.
